16 JANUARY 2021 - FREE!
WASH AWAY THOSE CORONAVIRUS BLUES
We think all who came agreed our online Small Festival in July 2020 was a great success - all the more enjoyable for us having been in lockdown through the spring. SO - as things continue much the same - why not not have a Winter Gathering - we thought!. With what's going on out there, it feels much needed to have a focus for our creativity and a virtual gathering. We're hoping many of you feel the same way.
SCHEDULE
This summer's schedule was full of great workshops. Creating limericks, learning Wim Hof's breathing, Action Learning, Pilates and meditation, visible mending, lockdown art club, and much more. Followed on 2 evenings by a fun packed digital cabaret that gave us the feeling we were all in the room together. There were lots of truly innovative contributions that would not have happened had we not been digital. Also, some people joined from far afield! Including Tasmania and France! There were inspired video recordings including combining people from different locations. All skilfully curated and edited by our technical team. We hope to create something similar again, on a smaller scale.
SAVE THE DATE
Please save the date in your diaries and let us know asap if you're interested. We'd like to get a sense of numbers.
START THINKING ABOUT WHAT YOU MIGHT BRING
There's always the cabaret if you'd like to produce a song or something else to perform. We'll ask you to make a film or recording of your performance and submit it in advance to our tech team who will live stream on the day. Alternatively you might have a workshop or another type of offering you'd like to bring. We love new ideas.
REGISTRATION and BOOKING
We will ask you to register if you want to come. The deadline for registrations will be Monday 15 December. Simplest way is to complete the booking form and return asap. You will then be sent a zoom link before the day.
DEADLINE FOR SUBMITTING YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS
Will be 8th January

Welcome to the Small Festival
We are back again this year at the wonderful Kench Hill near Tenterden in Kent.
For anyone who hasn’t been… The Small Festival, now in it’s 16th year, is a completely participatory event - a space where people can explore and express their creative potential in an atmosphere of trust and support. All festival-goers are encouraged to participate and contribute – there is no divide between ‘performers’ and ‘audience’. The idea is that when everyone participates, the distinction between audience and entertainer dissolves and this creates a special quality, a rewarding alternative to pre-packaged entertainment. There is always an exciting array of events for adults and children – with workshops ranging from cookery workshops to calligraphy, men and women’s groups to open mic sessions, political debates, children’s crafts, drama, treasure hunts – basically, whatever participants bring. The schedule is created each year based on participants’ contributions. There is a cabaret in the evenings where you can perform music, put on a small sketch or play, or be part of the very appreciative audience. Everyone, including the organisers, volunteers their time freely and the result is a fantastic rich mix of workshops and entertainment. People discover hidden talents. Children love the free space, and parents benefit from their children’s freedom, allowing them to participate in the events. Book your place, learn about what to expect, accommodation and catering.
